The first race turned when Gordon passed Hélio Castroneves for the lead on lap six. IROC’s full-grid inversion then put the winner at the back for race two. Gordon came through again, taking the lead from Tony Kanaan on lap five before holding off Kurt Busch.
According to IROC, he followed Castroneves before making the decisive move for first place on lap six.
The inverted start sent Gordon to the rear. IROC says he passed Kanaan for the lead on lap five and resisted Busch’s final-lap attack.
