# Max Verstappen commits to Red Bull through 2030

Red Bull Racing says its four-time world champion has extended a deal that previously ran through 2028\. The choice is also a vote of confidence in team principal Laurent Mekies and his plan to take the team back to the front.

The announcement settles Verstappen’s seat for two additional seasons. It does not erase Red Bull’s present performance problem; both driver and team describe returning to race-winning form as the work ahead.

## Why the partnership continues

The contract’s end date is simple. The more revealing part is what each side says it is committing to: familiarity, trust and the unfinished job of rebuilding a winning team.

> “I am really pleased with the contract extension. We have the best people and I’m excited to keep working together with everyone to get back to the top again.”

Verstappen called the team a “second family” and said continuing with the same organisation was something he had always wanted. In his explanation to Formula 1, he added that he does not feel a need to change teams merely for a different colour.

> “The decision to continue our journey together is rooted in the trust Max and the team have built over many years, as well as Max’s confidence in our people, our culture and our vision for the future.”

Mekies presents the agreement as continuity through both championships and harder stretches—not as proof that the recovery has already happened.

> “I don’t feel the need to change just to change, and I don’t necessarily need to drive in another colour.”

That is the clearest account of the choice: staying was not framed as the absence of alternatives, but as a preference for the team and people he already knows.

**Through 2030**The new agreement adds two seasons to Verstappen’s previous 2028 end date, according to Formula 1.
